This was the Team's Mercedes Benz Sprinter 412D Van. It was a Strathclyde Fire Brigade Road Rescue Unit based in Inveraray until 2005 when it was withdrawn from service and gifted to the team in 2007. Unfortunately, three yrs ago it failed its Goods Vehicle Test and had to be scrapped.
The vehicle was equipped with sufficient kenneling, water, food, protective and veterinary equipment to cater for the dogs for a protracted period of up to a week on scene at an incident. Upto 8 search dogs could be transported safely within inbuilt kennels. Equipment which maybe needed at incidents was also carried such. The van was equipped with a Scottish Ambulance Service Transponder to allow the Ambulance Service's Control Room to track its location and dispatch the First Responder crew to medical emergency incidents near by. A full medical kit was carried including Oxygen and Defibrillator.
Renault Trekka 4x4 vehicle which could transport five personnel and two USAR dogs to any incident. It was fully equipped with emergency medical kit and had an Ambulance Service Transponder to allow the Ambulance Service's Control Room to track it's location and dispatch the First Responder crew to medical emergency incidents near by. We sold it in 2013.
Mercedes 811 Support Unit was previously owned by Central Scotland Fire Brigade and operated from Alloa Fire station as a Canteen Unit. It was gifted to the WRVS then bought from them by the team. It is used by us for catering and as a command post if required. Onboard there is a fully fitted kitchen and canteen area for up to 8 people. The vehicle also has onboard toilet facilities.
The team also has access to a Honda Foreman 450 4x4 Quad Bike seen here in Dunblane towing an Ambulance stuck in snow with a seriously ill patient on board.
Two rescue equipment trailers that carry a range of specialist stretchers for urban and rural SAR,
specialist splinting systems, first aid equipment and technical line rescue kit are also stored at our base.
Both trailers can be towed by the team’s vehicles.
